Tradition is a collection of beliefs, customs, habits and practice habits passed down from generation to generation. But not only that, things that are passed down from generation to generation can also serve as elements of family traditions. Old things give the house a spirit of authenticity, indicate the connection between generations.
When developing an interior design for such families, it is necessary to think over everything so that the old things in the new interior feel comfortable and organic. The most suitable style for these purposes may be the classic style, or, as designers often practice now, individual elements of this style that can set the overall tone of the interior.
Already in the hallway, you can use several elements of the classic style, which will immediately determine the general direction of the interior design. Such elements can be a massive mirror in an old carved wooden frame, or an old clock. Arched openings will help create a smooth spatial rhythm in your home.
In order to accommodate a lot of little things, and at the same time not to clutter up the living room space, you can make several decorative elements that, on the one hand, will hide the massiveness of some things, and on the other, they will help to create a large number of different shelves, niches for placing small things. Such elements can be niches in the form of arches made of gypsum plasterboard, which can be positioned against each other. If you have a massive piano, placing it in one of the niches, thereby you can use the space rationally and visually reduce the massiveness of this piece. In another niche, you can put bookcases, or hang shelves where your favorite old books and family albums can be conveniently placed.
A large bright kitchen can combine the present day and the past. In the interior design of the kitchen, a work area with all its new technologically-functional appliances and machines can be combined, and a dining area that fully corresponds to the traditions of family dinners, with a large round table, a favorite grandmother's tablecloth, black and white photographs on the walls, and all that without which family tea drinking is unthinkable.
In accordance with the classic style, the bedroom should be decorated in neutral, calm, but at the same time warm colors. All shades of brown, olive, sand colors are suitable for this. Wallpaper and carpets are preferable in plain color or with a discreet pattern, so as not to violate the integrity of the space. For a classic room interior design, choose austere, elegant furniture without frivolous curls.
Bath and toilet rooms should be decorated in light pastel or olive colors. Although the final choice is up to you, you should still stick to light colors.
