Many of our readers are ardent admirers of the works of artists of the last century, when the number of various innovative trends and trends simply went off scale. The current masters of painting are trying to revive some of those directions, but in a modern interpretation. And today in our virtual gallery there are works of modern artist Andrey Protsyuk, who absorbed in his work the best traditions of the avant-garde and modern, used by the great masters of the twentieth century - Picasso, Chagall, Klimt.
Painters who try to attract the eyes of their contemporaries to their work and show their author's face never cease to amaze the public. Therefore, everything is used: style, manner, technique, and, of course, various innovative techniques and not only …

And so Andrei Protsyuk, a talented, modern painter who received a classical art education, in his works masterly showed how to best use centuries of experience in art and at the same time not lose his style and author's handwriting. And his style is really unique. The master laid the foundation for his innovative technique - “Fine Line”. In it, the artist embodied linear constructivism on the basis of classical painting, and also used a decoratively processed basis for relief. Both very effectively emphasize the originality of the painter's works.

The skill of the artist, who easily combined the experience of the creators of the past, is not limited only to a complex compositional structure and the specifics of the use of lines and textures. The main success of his work is in the picturesqueness of his works. Their color palette is harmonious and colorful. They are energetically powerful as well as emotional and cheerful. But this is not only valuable in the works of Andrey Protsyuk: the rough, inhomogeneous decorative texture of the base of each canvas casts unexpected shadows under the side light, thereby enhancing the color spectrum. This technique is associated with the Jackson Pollock technique.

The author's special life philosophy can be seen in several large series of paintings: "Romantic Cities", "Wine Series", "Romantic Collection". They clearly show a glimpse of the Art Nouveau era and the spirit of a dynamic modern time.

The Cities of Romonce series (Romantic cities) differs from other cycles not only in the chosen theme. Each work in this series tells us a love story that takes place in different cities of the world: London, Venice, Paris and others. And if the charming heroines from the "Wine" series are static, then the characters of the "Romantic Cities" are full of dynamics, expression and violent emotions.

Two lovers from the painting Paris perform a languid dance: they flirt with each other and with the audience, and the famous Eiffel Tower, as it were, becomes a support for the performance of their sensual movements. The broken folds of the clothes and the decorative ornaments of the dress are reminiscent of Picasso's cubism and the best works of Klimt.

Surely many connoisseurs of painting will note that the clear straight lines of silhouettes with sharp angles and contour lines and the use of local color are very reminiscent of banal primitivism. However, the creative manner of the master only at first glance seems simple and uncomplicated. There is something in it - called style, which all masters try so hard to find for their self-expression.

And, whatever you say, there is something in the works of Andrey Protsyuk that makes the viewer stop looking at his canvases: whoever saw his paintings once will probably want to see them again.
A few words about the painter

The artist was born in the city of Donetsk in 1961. The boy's parents were creative people, so they very early noticed the artistic abilities of their son and in every possible way contributed to the development of his talent. Upon graduation, Andrei was admitted to the Luhansk School of Arts, and after graduation he was enrolled in the Repin Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (now the Russian Academy of Arts).

The future artist studied in the studio of Professor Yevsey Moiseenko, a rather eminent master who was known not only in Russia, but also in Europe. At one time, the professor was friends with Pablo Picasso himself, as well as Marc Chagall. Of course, his creative views and commitment to modernism and the avant-garde did not pass by a talented student who absorbed all the best traditions of the masters of the past.

It should be noted that while still a student, Andrey Protsyuk was recognized as one of the best masters of composition. He graduated from the university as a young artist with a master's degree and honors. His canvases were highly appreciated even during his apprenticeship, the more mature works of the painter began to enjoy much more public attention.

In 1994, at the family council of the Protsyuk family, it was decided to move to a permanent place of residence in the United States. And for more than 25 years the artist has lived and worked in the city of Stradsburg (Pennsylvania), has his own studio and a large audience of fans.

Critics call Andrei's paintings American erotica. All his canvases, regardless of the storyline, are filled with a sense of triumph and celebration of life, where a person can enjoy the simplest pleasures - freedom, guilt and each other's company. You can consider them indefinitely, unraveling the secrets of the heroes' relationships, or simply enjoying the cheerful palette of colors.
