The spouses from Russia raised their love for the history of Ancient Egypt to unattainable heights. They have built an incredibly faithful replica of one of the Great Pyramids of Giza out of concrete … in their backyard! Andrey and Victoria Vakhrushevs decided on an unusual addition to their summer cottage landscape. Their beautiful garden, in the village of Istinka near St. Petersburg, covered with greenery, lined with trees … and in the midst of all the splendor - a nine-meter pyramid!

Each side of the pyramid is thirteen meters. This majestic structure is amazing. Especially with the locals! What prompted the Vakhrushevs to recreate this ancient building?

Perhaps they were possessed by the spirits of the ancient Egyptian powerful pharaohs? Be that as it may, a 19 times smaller copy of the Cheops pyramid was erected from ordinary concrete. The original temple structure was built at one time from volcanic and basalt rocks. However, newly minted architects can be forgiven for not adhering to tradition in its entirety.

In addition to materials, Andrei and Victoria put their hearts and souls into this building, creating a piece of Egypt in their garden. Andrey says the structure is not completely monolithic. They made careful calculations in terms of masonry. Everything was done in such a way as to be as close to the original as possible.

The ritual structure, or rather its copy, weighing 400 tons, certainly attracts everyone's attention. In order to study the issue, the couple flew to Egypt many times and visited the pyramids of Giza. The Vakhrushevs began construction work about a year ago. The outside view of this building is simply amazing! The interior is not finished yet. Andrey is just working on it. History lovers will surely like this building. And for ordinary people, for sure, too.

For fifty dollars, interested persons can spend time in underground chambers and admire the statues. The nine-meter depth imitates a real burial chamber. Daredevils and the curious can come down here to unblock their chakras in meditation. Just be careful! You can stumble upon a sarcophagus. Unlike everything else, it is made in full size.

"We had to reduce the contours of the pyramid," says Victoria, "but the sarcophagus is made the same size as in the pyramid of Cheops, we just made sure it fits." Cheops is another name for Khufu, the pharaoh, in whose honor this pyramid was built in Ancient Egypt.

Unlike the ancient Egyptian builders, who erected the pyramid for more than two decades, Russian enthusiasts of the 21st century took a year to do this. According to Andrey, they found a contractor who was sincerely imbued with the idea of their project. The builders fulfilled all the ideas of the spouses exactly.

Despite extensive research, the exact purpose of the pyramids and what they were used for is still a mystery to historians, as well as how they were erected. It is only clear that Egyptian pharaohs were buried in them. Curious if Andrey plans to use the pyramid in this way? An exact copy of one of the main Egyptian attractions has the same mysterious corridors, the passage through which makes you remember all the scary films on this topic. Despite the fact that this is just a copy - a sense of grandeur and mystery is present very clearly.

What do the neighbors think about this? Contrary to expectations, everyone describes the Vakhrushevs as wonderful neighbors and finds their efforts to create an island of Ancient Egypt in Istinka very inspiring.

Andrey and Victoria are planning to build the entire temple complex. They named their pyramid after the ancient Egyptian god Thoth, who was the patron saint of science, writers, books and the creator of the calendar. On the basis of the recreated cultural sites, enthusiasts plan to study the impact of Egyptian cultural sites on the human condition. Of course, scientists have every right to be skeptical about such "research", but one cannot but rejoice for a family that has the desire, strength and resources for such an incredible hobby! So far, the Russian pyramid of Thoth is the only pyramid in the world with a connected Internet and its own Instagram account!
