Her name was hardly known to the audience, she herself almost always remained behind the scenes, but her voice was familiar to everyone - after all, it was Elena Driatskaya who sang the songs that sounded in the films "Heavenly Swallows", "Dog in the Manger", "D'Artagnan and three musketeers”and many others. She herself appeared on the screens infrequently, but she also had notable film works - for example, the role of Clarice in the film "Truffaldino from Bergamo". And then a misfortune happened, and from the end of the 1980s. no one else heard her voice in the movies …
Elena will forever remember one incident from her childhood. When she was 8 years old, one of my mother's friends said: "" And my mother answered: "". Since then, she was ashamed of her appearance, she always wanted to hide, and she did not aspire to appear on the screens. In the future, she had a lot of studio work, Driatskaya often remained behind the scenes, although she really grew up to be a real beauty.
From childhood, Elena was very fond of fairy tales, and this hobby remained for her whole life. "", - said the artist.
After school, Elena graduated from a music school and worked as a singing teacher until the head of the Petrushka ensemble called her and invited her to join them. And at the age of 23, at the invitation of director Vladimir Vorobyov, Driatskaya entered the troupe of the Leningrad Musical Comedy Theater, on the stage of which she performed for more than 20 years. In parallel, she graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography, where she studied at the Department of Musical Comedy Actors.
In addition to working in the theater, Driatskaya performed in various concert programs, recorded at the Melodiya studio, dubbed actresses in films and sang for them in musical films. Her first film work was the film "Heavenly Swallows". Iya Ninidze shone on the screens, and Elena Driatskaya sang for her heroine Deniza. Then there were Constance and Katarina in D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers, Countess Diana and her maid Marcela in Dog in the Manger.
When the director of the Musical Comedy Theater started shooting the film Truffaldino from Bergamo, he invited all the stars of his troupe there. Only Natalya Gundareva and Konstantin Raikin were not members of their collective and did not perform their parts independently. At the same time, Driatskaya sang for her heroine Clarice and for the heroine Gundareva.
At the premiere of the film in January 1977, Elena Driatskaya was 8 months pregnant. When she returned to the theater after the birth of a child, the director stopped talking to her - he believed that the actress simply had no right to pause at such a moment when she had to fully focus on her career. His attitude was just as cold when Driatskaya went on maternity leave for the second time. As a result, she lost almost all of her roles.
When her children were still young, disaster struck. Due to the stress caused by the loss of her job, Driatskaya began to have health problems. The artist underwent surgery on her ligaments and lost her voice. She could not only sing, but even speak. The theater waited for her for a year, but then Driatskaya realized that she needed to leave herself. The phone went silent, she suddenly turned out to be of no use to anyone. This period became the most terrible in her life. She lost her parents one by one, then divorced her husband and was left alone with the children, the crisis of the 1990s broke out, there was no work. Her ex-husband emigrated to Australia and wanted to take his son with him. Elena realized that it would be better for her son, and found the strength to let him go.
After a long treatment, the artist returned to the theater. From 1997 to 2001 Elena Driatskaya worked as a choirmaster at the Leningrad Musical Comedy Theater, and then again took up dubbing films. Her voice is spoken by Leia Organa in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Driatskaya is still worried about the fact that her artistic career did not work out. She can't even watch Truffaldino from Bergamo - it's too hard to remember those times when it seemed that there were dozens of roles ahead …
This film became a landmark not only for Elena Driatskaya: Behind the scenes "Truffaldino from Bergamo".
