As a rule, directors are afraid to invite non-professional actresses to shoot - the lack of specialized education and acting training interferes with coping with directorial tasks. Ballerinas are beautiful, graceful, artistic, have experience of performing on stage in front of an audience, but very rarely do any of them manage to achieve success both in ballet and in cinema. But each rule has its exceptions …

Once the assistants of the director Andrei Konchalovsky came to their school, who were looking for an actress for the role of Altynai in the film "The First Teacher". They chose one of the dancers, but did not write down her last name, and then called the school and asked to send a "girl from the Kazakh group." The teachers decided that they were talking about Arinbasarova, and although this was a mistake, at Mosfilm they still made a choice in favor of Natalia. This debut role became significant for her both professionally and personally: for her she received the main prize, the Volpi Cup at the Venice International Film Festival in 1966, and during the filming she had an affair with the director, she became the first wife Konchalovsky and gave birth to his son Yegor. After graduating from VGIK, Arinbasarova continued her acting career and played about 70 movie roles.

When director Emil Loteanu was looking for the main character for his film "My affectionate and gentle animal", he set a difficult task for his assistants: to find a young girl who at the same time looks like Tatiana Samoilova, Lyudmila Savelyeva and Audrey Hepburn. They were also looking for the actress among the students of choreographic schools, but for six months the search remained unsuccessful - no suitable candidates could be found in the capital. When the director saw a photograph of a 16-year-old student of the Voronezh School of Choreography, he realized that he had finally found the perfect female lead in his film.

However, the first tests turned out to be a failure for Belyaeva - having no experience of working in front of the camera, the girl felt constrained and did not know how to behave. But during the second screen test, Oleg Yankovsky helped her to liberate herself, and she showed a good result. Her charm, sincerity and spontaneity made up for the lack of acting training. The film debut of Galina Belyaeva turned out to be very successful and brought her all-Union popularity. Nevertheless, ballet remained in the foreground for her. A year later, she graduated from a choreographic school, and who knows what would have prevailed as a result - cinema or ballet, if not for the love that broke out on the set between her and the director.

By the time the film "My affectionate and gentle animal" was released, they had become husband and wife. In 1983, Belyaeva graduated from the Shchukin School, entered the troupe of the Moscow Mayakovsky Theater and said goodbye to ballet forever. By the time she graduated from college, she already had several works in films, but the actress continued to yearn for ballet. And Emil Loteanu gave her the opportunity to perform ballet roles on the set - Belyaeva played the main role in the biographical film "Anna Pavlova", which tells about the fate of the great ballerina. Soon their marriage to the director fell apart, she remarried. There were long pauses in her acting career - she gave birth to four children, who became the meaning of her life. Therefore, Galina Belyaeva does not regret the unplayed roles and continues to act in films to this day - when this does not interfere with her family.
