First, a person invents a technique that would help him to perform the most difficult work, and then … with all his might he tries to imitate this very technique. Probably, this is done in order to once again demonstrate that he himself can do no worse. How else to explain the popularity of hyperrealism in painting, sculptures that do not look lifeless, or an art project The human printerin which art students manually recreate CMYK print effect? As you know, CMYK printing is printing in four colors: cyan, magenta, yellow and key (black), the location of which is determined by the computer. And it will be enough to glance at the paintings to see what a titanic work the participants of this art project have done. Compared to the challenge the University of Derby students set themselves, Cinderella, with her bags of peas and lentils, was simply playing with spillikins.
Participants manually, with small dots of multi-colored felt-tip pens, recreated paintings, photographs, posters on canvases. It is difficult to imagine how long it took them for one such picture, but at least several hundred hours, given that they worked in a group, and not individually. In addition, this activity requires not only artistic skills, a sense of color and style, but also knowledge of printing technology and "digital" visual memory.
You can see how the project participants worked on the video, or on the website dedicated to the art project The Human Printer.
