Looking at these miniature sculptures, it is hard to believe that they are made from fragile eggshells. The master spends many hours sitting at the table and painstakingly creating these works of art. Intricate patterns make them look like real lace.
Slovenian master Franc Grom transforms shells from ordinary chicken eggs into stunning miniature sculptures. They look like openwork lace with traditional national ornament.
Frank Grom lives near the capital of Ljubljana in the small village of Stara Vrhniki. He started this craft after retirement. For 20 years Franc has been perfecting his craft. As the author himself says, before starting work, he carefully examines the eggs so as not to miss a single microcrack, if any. Otherwise, it will break during processing.
In his work, the artisan uses a tiny electric drill, with which he makes holes in the shell. Each egg contains between 2,500 and 17,000 holes that form intricate patterns.
"Openwork" eggs of the master are presented in galleries of modern art around the world. In order to buy at least one such testicle, you need to pay at least $ 500 for it.
The artist known by the pseudonym Eggdoodler also likes to use eggshells as a working material. But he prefers not chicken, but ostrich eggs, on which he applies complex patterns.
