Creative work By Robert Mickelsen not like any of those glass sculptures that we have seen. Souvenir cats and fish, ballerinas and a groom and a bride, this is all a long passed stage. The artist's amazing works defy any description: they are thin, fragile, delicate, practically weightless. The sculptor was born in 1951, and at the age of 20 he became seriously interested in the art of glass blowers. The talented young man managed to attend a master class by Paul Stenkard, who showed what a material such as glass is capable of, how to handle it, what to expect and how to achieve the desired result. Since then, Robert Mikelsen has been friends with this amazing art, blowing graceful openwork sculptures out of glass that look light and airy like a spider web.
It seems that there is nothing for this author that he could not blow out of glass. His portfolio includes fantastic plants, outlandish animals, and exquisite jewelry, but I still consider openwork sculptures to be the adornment of the collection. It seems that one has only to touch one of them, as it immediately crumbles into a million dewdrops.
