Salisbury Cathedral is one of the British landmarks. Its 123-meter spire is considered the tallest in England, the cathedral clock is the oldest working clock mechanism in the world, and the building itself is the purest example of English Gothic. And this winter, connoisseurs of contemporary art also have a reason to visit the temple: it was here that the latest installation was located. Bruce Munro "Light Shower".
Bruce Munroe, already known to our readers as a master light installations, and here remained true to himself. The piece consists of two thousand flickering "droplets" scattering light and suspended from fiberglass threads. The entire structure, anchored at the intersection of the transepts and the nave, cascades downward. The volume of the work is 10x10x7 meters - dimensions corresponding to a small house. The installation fits very organically into the interior of the old cathedral, founded in 1258, and looks like a floating cloud of light.
“As I walked through the majestic nave of the cathedral, I suddenly realized what I wanted to create,” says Bruce Munroe. “I'm sure the building provided me with all the clues to make my work the best. I hope that my creation will reflect the spiritual essence that penetrates into space."
The installation will be officially presented on November 29 and will run until the end of February 2011. Bruce Munroe hopes that his work will allow both parishioners and clergy to look at the cathedral in a new light and appreciate its high vaults and free space.

Remembrance Day. Installation of 5,000 poppies at St Paul's Cathedral, London
The British have long honored red poppy flowers - for them it is not just a flower, but a symbol of the memory of those who died during world wars and other armed conflicts. The fact is that poppy seeds can sleep for a long time in pristine land, but stand
