North Korea - a very, very closed state: this country is ruled by people who do not really want publicity. As a result, opponents of the North Korean regime tell horrors about it, and supporters lavish the sticky molasses of lies - and in this confrontation, the daily life of the people of the communist country is completely forgotten. David Guttenfelder of The Associated Press - the man who worked tirelessly on the lens so we could see photo of North Koreaas it is. Enjoy!

But first, a few words about the photographer himself. David Guttenfelder was born in Iowa, USA and graduated in 1992 with a degree in cultural anthropology. And he made photography the main occupation of his life. But the object of his capture is not fluffy cats, beautiful women or mountain landscapes, but entire countries and peoples, wars and revolutions. David Guttenfelder is, without exaggeration, one of the most famous photojournalists in the world.

He has been with the Associated Press for 12 years. In 2001, Guttenfelder was shortlisted for the Pulitzer Prize for reports and photos from North and South Korea, and in 2004 for photo reports from Iraq. David Guttenfelder gained unprecedented access to North Korea - perhaps because he learned to show not only the bad, as most reporters do, but also the good. In his photo we see a very poor but clean country. A country in which there is no Western riot of colors, but there is an iron order.

Hunting for pictures, David made more than one journey from the southern border of Korea to the north, from Pyongyang with empty roads to beggar villages with harsh toilers, oxen and carts; visited all the holidays, mainly dedicated to Kim Jong Il, Kim Il Sung, the army and the party. From him photo of North Korea as if the Soviet past is blowing - a life that is hard to hide grows through the Iron Curtain. The most successful of the hundreds of photographs taken by Guttenfelder have been around the world.
