British actor Noel Clark, best known for his films "Span 2" (Adulthood, 2008) and "Star Trek: Retribution" (Star Trek Into Darkness, 2013), was temporarily stripped of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award for his contribution to the development of cinema after after 20 women accused him of harassment. This, as reported by TASS, said in a statement released on Thursday by the film academy of the United Kingdom.

"This measure takes effect immediately and will be in effect until further notice," the message says.

On Thursday, The Guardian published material stating that 20 women who worked with Clark at different times accused him of harassment and bullying, which he allegedly committed towards them between 2004 and 2019. At the same time, the article noted that BAFTA, which presented the actor with an award for his contribution to the development of cinema on April 10, was aware of allegations of his indecent behavior in communicating with colleagues.

Among those who publicly in the pages of the British edition made accusations against Clark were, in particular, producer Gina Powell, actress Joanna James, as well as assistant director Anna Avramenko, a Russian woman, who worked with him as an intern on the film Got It! (Doghouse, 2009). According to Avramenko, Clark pestered her on the set and tried to kiss her repeatedly, despite the fact that she was against it.

The 45-year-old Clark himself denies these charges. “In my twenty-year career, I have put inclusiveness and diversity at the forefront. During this time, not a single person left a complaint against me. If anyone I worked with felt uncomfortable or disrespectful on my part, I sincerely apologize. I categorically deny the accusations of sexual debauchery and intend to protect myself from these false statements, the actor said in a statement.
