What happens to superheroes when they retire? The Italian cartoonist Donald Soffritti knows the answer to this question for sure, because he draws them, however, not at all the way we are used to seeing them, but several decades older. You can't look without sadness at the old and frail, everyone's favorite superheroes: Superman and Spiderman, Hulk, Batman and Robin.
In childhood, we all loved to read comics, watch cartoons and films in which men and women with superpowers fight against villains, monsters, and dark forces. Each of us had our favorite superhero, with whom we participated in all battles and rejoiced at his victories. But did any of us think that even though our heroes and superhumans, they are still living people, and while we grow, they age. It's sad to watch the fading glory of retired superheroes.
Wonder Woman, the daughter of an Amazon and a god, traded her feminine attractiveness and super powers for a cigarette and a few extra pounds of weight.
It's also sad to witness Superman's fate, which is not much different from that of Wonder Woman. Besides the fact that he is an inveterate fat smoker, he still cannot leave the house without a glass of tequila.
Spiderman, poor fellow, did not take care of his health at all and turned into a skinny, shriveled old man. He has become one of the hospital's constant annoying patients, whose life depends on the IV.
Donald Soffitty, having earned his degree in Fine Arts in 1990, worked as an illustrator for many Italian magazines and newspapers. He also attended Disney Academy in 1997 and has done illustrations for many Disney animated series, including The Enchantress (W. I. T. C. H).
