She enjoyed immense popularity in the Soviet Union, her records were instantly sold out, and her voice was mesmerizing. She received letters from all over the vast country, men confessed their love to her and made proposals. But the heart of a Polish beauty with an unearthly voice was busy. All her life Anna Herman loved her Zbigniew Tucholski.
First meetings
After graduating from the lyceum, Anna, at the insistence of her mother, whom she loved very much, entered the geological faculty of the university, where she showed great promise. She was promised a bright future in science. But Anna German found her calling thanks to her participation in amateur performances. The first large audience of Anna German were guests at the wedding of her friend Bogusi.
In 1960, a young, very beautiful and very tall Anna went to the beach, not even assuming that she would meet her fate there. When she was just laying out her blanket, a young man asked her to look after his things while he bathed himself. Anna, of course, agreed. The man, Zbigniew Tucholski, turned out to be an employee of the University of Warsaw; he was on a business trip in Wroclaw. They talked for a very short time, but broke up, exchanging phones.
Later, they sometimes called each other and wrote greeting cards to each other. When Zbigniew again came to Wroclaw on a business trip, Anna invited him to visit. While visiting the girl, he met his mother and grandmother. And then he first heard Anna sing. She had an extraordinary, very clear voice. And Zbigniew, not possessing a completely musical ear, immediately felt what talent was bestowed on the young beauty.
echo of love
It is unlikely that at that time young people thought that they were overtaken by eternal love. They felt good together, there were always topics for conversation, and her Zbigniew always supported Anna in her desire to sing. When the singer began touring with the Wroclaw stage performers in Poland, he himself drove her to performances in his car, if there was a free minute. In general, he tried to always be with her. Gradually, the very bright feeling arose between the young people that they were destined to carry through their whole lives.
He was still working at the Department of Metallurgy at the University, and the star of Anna Herman lit up brighter and brighter. There was participation in song competitions, receiving the Audience Award in Sopot, the incredible popularity of the singer after her very first tour in the Soviet Union.
It never occurred to him to be jealous of Anna and try to tie her to the house. He understood that such a talent could not be hidden. And he perceived the attention of other men to Anna with a fair amount of humor.
Test of love
When Anna German got into a terrible car accident in Italy, she was really on the verge of life and death. Her family received a visa immediately, as the girl's condition was extremely difficult. Anna's mother and Zbigniew flew to Italy. She was lying in an Italian clinic, all chained in a plaster corset. For two long weeks, the singer did not recognize anyone. Then she began to come to her senses and desperately beg to go home. But for almost three months they changed one hospital after another, waiting at least for the permission of the Italian doctors for the flight.
And then Anna had to start all over again: sit down, walk, eat. Zbigniew was always there. Many sources write that Zbigniew brought his beloved from the Warsaw Rehabilitation Center to his home and invited Anna to legalize their relationship. But she agreed to marry him only after her recovery. In fact, she herself proposed to him, after she recovered. Anna simply and casually invited him to prepare documents for the registry office, and they secretly signed them in Zakopane.
In the meantime, he did everything to ensure that his beloved recovered. He pulled a rope in the room where Anna lay. With the help of this rope, she could slowly, overcoming the pain, sit down on the bed. Then she began to take her first steps. They rejoiced at every little Anna's victory. When she began to walk, in the evenings he took her to the deserted embankment of the Vistula, where she tried again and again to return to normal life. She could walk again. And even, despite the pessimistic forecasts of doctors, she was able to sing. Only she never wore any corsets and dresses with a high collar - they reminded her of a terrible plaster corset, which became her only piece of clothing for many months.
Happiness for three
On March 23, 1972, Anna German and Zbigniew Tucholski became husband and wife. The news that Anna was expecting a baby made them both the happiest people. They were expecting this baby. But the verdict was the ban on doctors. They convinced Anna that it was absolutely impossible for her to give birth, but in spite of everyone and everything, she decided to leave the child. And in November 1975, Anna and Zbigniew had a son, Zbyshek (Sparrows). They were happier than ever.
Gradually Anna returned to concert and touring activities. From each trip, she carried gifts to her beloved little sparrow, often buying toys for him for the entire amount of the fee, which was never very high.
Blows of fate
At the next concert, Anna appeared, barely stepping on her foot. The viewer did not even notice that she was singing, overcoming the pain. The leg was swollen, the singer could not walk normally. But she continued to sing.
At first, everyone decided that the pain and swelling of the leg were the consequences of that Italian accident, after which Anna was recovering for a long time. But the diagnosis turned out to be much worse. She didn't believe the doctors at first. And when the Warsaw doctors confirmed that she had oncology, she could not recover from the horror that gripped her for a long time. She burst into tears right in the doctor's office, but Anna was strong and courageous. She decided to live as if there was no cancer in her life. She toured until the last moment, when the pain did not even allow her to move. Anna came to the recording of her last song in the USSR "Echo of Love" with a high fever and could barely stay on her feet.
Anna passed away on August 25, 1982. Zbigniew Tucholski was never able to marry again. He loved his Anya too much.
This is how the "Echo of Love" sounded - the last song of Anna German.
