Daughter of a famous father
When the eldest daughter Ekaterina was born in the family of the literary critic Alla Kireeva and the poet Robert Rozhdestvensky, he was not yet famous throughout the country. From translator to photo artist
Catherine did not immediately decide on her future profession. From the first grade, she began to learn English, and in the senior grades of the school decided to enter MGIMO and in 1979 completed her studies in the specialty "International Relations". After that, she got a job at the USSR State Television and Radio Broadcasting, where she translated foreign programs into Russian. And then Rozhdestvenskaya started translating fiction from English and French (works by John Steinbeck, Sidney Sheldon, Somerset Maugham and other writers).
In the second half of the 1980s. Ekaterina spent 3 years in India, where her husband, journalist Dmitry Biryukov, filmed reports for the Vremya and International Panorama programs. After returning to Russia, Rozhdestvenskaya was raising three sons. In the late 1990s. Catherine became interested in photography. Once, at the TEFI television award ceremony, the stars in luxurious outfits reminded her of the characters of famous paintings by artists of the past centuries. And then she had the idea to create a series of photographs of celebrities in the images of the heroes of these canvases. A series of her works have been published for several years in the glossy magazine "Caravan of stories". Her father did not see any of her photographs and did not find her finest hour, because back in 1994 his life was cut short after a serious illness.
For 10 years of work on the "Private Collection" project, Yekaterina Rozhdestvenskaya has created more than 2,500 photographs of famous actors, politicians and musicians. When choosing this or that image, she took into account not only the external, but also the internal similarity with the character of the masterpiece in order to recreate a certain mood and atmosphere. The make-up artist who worked for Mosfilm for 25 years was responsible for the incredible transformation of the stars. Rozhdestvenskaya admitted that the preparation process took 90% of the time, and only 10% was left for filming. She tried to get as close as possible to the original, and often her photographic portraits could not be distinguished from the original paintings.
Self-made woman
"Private Collection" was not her only photo project - Rozhdestvenskaya also created the series "Kinsfolk", "Fairy Tales", "Vintage", "Associations", "Classics", "Kinodivs" and others. More than 3000 actors, public and political actors became her models personalities, TV presenters, musicians and athletes. Her creative achievements were recognized and were awarded the Olympia Prize in the Art Style category for the original author's style in art, and in 2009 Rozhdestvenskaya was elected an honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts.

Nevertheless, Catherine still considers her main merit to be that she is the daughter of the outstanding poet Robert Rozhdestvensky. His premature departure was a great shock for the whole family, but his wife was the hardest of all to experience it: 40 years of fidelity to Robert Rozhdestvensky.
