From the age of two, Catherine lived in a family with her mother Tatyana Pravdina and her husband, a wonderful actor Zinovy Gerdt, whose last name she took as an adult. Childhood

Katya was born into the family of Ekaterina Pravdina, a translator from the Arabic language, and her first husband, but the girl's parents broke up when she was only two years old. She always considered Zinovy Gerdt to be her father, especially since the biological dad was never interested in the fate of her daughter.

She called her mother's husband Zyama, but she only called her father behind her back. She often recalled her childhood, which was, like everyone else, cheerful and carefree. At first, they did not have their own housing, and the family often moved from one rented apartment to another. The actor loved his adopted daughter and could, together with his wife, sculpt a huge snowman in front of the window for the sick Katya all night so that the girl would be happy.

He never punished his daughter, he could only exclaim, measuring out the room with his steps: "This is outrageous!" And the spouses somehow did not specifically raise their daughter, they just lived, read poetry, discussed films, went all together to the theater and exhibitions. Only at the end of his life did Zinovy Efimovich lamented that he had no one to leave his name to.

His son from his first marriage, like Katya, bore the name of his mother. And when Tatyana Pravdina asked about who he would like to see with his last name, Zinovy Gerdt answered instantly: "Katya!" Catherine was then already an adult married woman, but she was delighted with her mother's story about her conversation with her father. For over 40 years she has been Katya Gerdt.

Their family was absolutely amazing. There were no strict rules and restrictions. But there was freedom, unlimited trust not only in loved ones, but in people in general. That is why Catherine always expects only good from others, and just from strangers. Sometimes, of course, disappointments happen, but this does not affect her overall picture of the world.

Family life

Katya grew up as a very attractive girl and she always had a lot of fans. She was still in ninth grade when director Valery Fokin began to look after her. He was eight years older, but he was so touching and caring that the girl fell in love. During her school years, she very funny endured dates, explaining this with unlearned lessons, which Zinovy Gerdt always made fun of.

At the age of 20, Katya gave birth to a son, Orestes, but her marriage to Valery Fokin did not work out. Despite parting with his wife, Valery Fokin maintained good relations with Katya's mother Tatyana Pravdina and never left his son behind.

And Catherine, after parting with her husband, married a second time. For more than 35 years she has been married to another director, Denis Evstigneev, the son of Galina Volchek and Evgeny Evstigneev. Denis Evgenievich calls Orest his son and his two daughters granddaughters.

Katya met Denis Evstigneev as a child thanks to the friendship that binds the Gerdt and Volchek family. Later, Katya and Denis studied at VGIK, only the girl is several years older. Later, when both were already working, they had a chance to shoot a movie together, where Katya Gerdt was the director, and Denis Evstigneev was the cameraman.

Ekaterina Zinovievna worked as a director of documentaries for many years and, in general, could not imagine herself in another profession. At the same time, she always liked not the filming process itself, but the editing, when pieces of material in some unthinkable way suddenly turn into a whole screen life. As Katya Gerdt herself admits, the profession of a film director and a designer, to her surprise, turned out to have a lot in common. All the same process of creating a single whole from disparate materials, interior items and paints.

For many years Katya Gerdt has been engaged in interior design, her name is known not only in narrow circles, and Katya Gerdt's Workshop always takes on the most complex orders. Ekaterina Zinovievna creates some especially warm and cozy rooms and houses. After the first glance at the changed state, you want to stay there. She scrupulously selects things not only for the interior, but also for their owner. In her opinion, all things should be suitable for the owner, only then the person will not feel uncomfortable in his own apartment or in the house.

When the need arose to build a dacha for Galina Volchek, Denis and Katya took up this issue themselves and managed to make Galina Borisovna's beloved house a family place, where all members of their large family were happy to visit and numerous friends and acquaintances of Galina Volchek came to the fire.

Katya Gerdt does not hide: her life has always been bright and eventful, filled with events and interesting meetings. Undoubtedly, her parents, Tatyana Pravdina and Zinovy Gerdt, who taught her to love people, trust herself and never stop there, are worth grateful to her for this.

Perhaps that is why she is so happy in marriage: Denis Evstigneev has repeatedly admitted that he and his wife for many years have not been able to bore each other.

Before their meeting, Zinovy Gerdt had two official marriages and four civil ones. But when he saw his Tatyana, at first glance he realized that he could not live without her. Tatyana Pravdina gave the actor, beloved by millions, the most important thing: 36 years of tender love, true friendship, support and deep trust.
