Earth Hour Is one of the environmental protection projects that unites the whole world. For seven years now, on the last Saturday of March, people around the planet have symbolically turned off the lights to demonstrate their solidarity in their readiness to deal with pressing environmental problems, in particular, global warming. Initiator of the action - World Wildlife Fund (WWF) - this year it has united more than seven thousand cities from 152 countries participating in the project, this has become a real record!
Every year, for the informational support of Earth Hour, the organizers launch a wide advertising campaign in order to attract as many people as possible to this action. In 2007, when the campaign was held for the first time, WWF developed a logo depicting a giant number 60, stylized as a planetary coloration. 60 minutes - it was for such a period of time that it was proposed not only to turn off the lights in the houses, but even to de-energize the world's most famous sights.
The Earth Hour program started in Australia, but very quickly gained support in many countries around the world. Every year the list was only replenished, and since 2009 the tradition of turning off the light has "sunk" to Russia, and in 2012 - to Ukraine. This year, in order to draw attention to environmental issues, Philippine advertising agency Leo Burnett commissioned by WWF was released series of advertising posters with the image of unusual candles. On one of the posters you can see a "wax" tree, on the other - a glacier, and on the third - a starfish. The meaning of these advertising posters is not difficult to unravel: by combining efforts and protecting nature, we thereby lay the foundation for a new harmonious life, extinguishing the lights and lighting candles - we save the diversity of flora and fauna.
In conclusion, it is appropriate to recall the words of Mahatma Gandhi, who with amazing accuracy outlined the main dilemma in the relationship between man and nature: "The world is large enough to satisfy the needs of any person, but too small to satisfy human greed."
