In contemporary art, a term such as "mixed-media" is now widespread, that is, mixed media. The authors combine many materials in one work, not seeing the opportunity to express themselves with the help of only one. Sometimes it turns out something awkward and lurid. And sometimes it is light, fragile and truly beautiful. The works of the young Spanish illustrator Adriana Muñoz can be classified in the latter category.
In her works, Adriana connects pencil drawings with pieces of fabric, flowers, beads, cocktail umbrellas … In a word, anything can be an addition to thin pencil lines. Each work of Adriana Muñoz balances on the verge between reality and illusion, between wakefulness and sleep, between the invented world and the present. The author simply erases the boundaries between drawing and reality, and you no longer understand whether these beautiful heroines are the fruit of the author's imagination, or whether they really exist …
Some of the works of Adriana Muñoz are frankly erotic, but there is not even a hint of vulgarity or aggressive sexuality, which are so often present in the works of modern authors.
Adriana Muñoz was born in 1982 in Barcelona and currently lives and works in London. The girl graduated from London Camberwell College of Arts, receiving a master's degree in illustration. Among the clients of the talented author are Alfa Romeo, Scarlet Magazine, Itfashion. In 2009, Adriana was named the best contemporary British illustrator by the AOI (The Association of Illustrators). More works of the author - on the site.
