The city of Slavutich itself is beautiful, interesting and attractive. And, of course, unique, very creative people live in it. For example, the chief architect of Slavutich, Dmitry Baglaev, together with his like-minded people, came up with a very important project. In different parts of the city, enthusiasts have put pedestrian warning signs on the asphalt. Dmitry is sure that in this way he will be able to teach local residents how to carefully cross the carriageway and not violate traffic rules.
The Security Stencils project was launched by Dmitry Baglaev, Alexander Panchenko and several other caring residents at the end of August.
“We selected analogs on the Internet, I prepared sketches, sent them to my brother, who drew the files that the CNC laser machine reads,” Dmitry said in a video shot for youtube.
After that, all that was left was to put inscriptions and pictures on areas of the city potentially dangerous for pedestrians. For example, they have already appeared on the way to the pedestrian crossing near school No. 4 and Vilnius kindergarten.
- The inscriptions on the asphalt really make you stop. When a pedestrian sees a strict: "Marvel at" ("Look!") With arrows pointing to the right and left, "Take the child by the hand!" "(Take the child by the hand!") With the image of a big and small man or an icon with a crossed out mobile phone, he will involuntarily follow this recommendation. Well, if the parent wants to disobey, the child himself will prompt him: "Dad, look what is written here!"
Dmitry invited the residents of the city to help put warning signs by throwing a cry on the social network. And, I must say, there were a lot of volunteers. Both adults and children got down to work.
The grateful responses of the townspeople immediately poured in: “My son, opposite the Vilnius Garden, immediately gets off the balance bike and gives me a hand. It’s a great idea for children,”one of the mothers shares her impressions. “This is a cool thing! Let's use it! I even look where it is not drawn, and I think that it is not enough - I need to finish painting! Let's join,”another resident of Slavutych echoes her. Many townspeople write to Dmitry that they are also ready to help in this noble cause: they say, name the time and place, and we will come.
The experience of Slavutych will certainly be of interest to residents of other cities, because in the first weeks practice has shown: there is a result, pedestrians have really become more disciplined.
- We hope that thanks to our stencils the city will become more comfortable and safer, - Dmitry sums up and adds, - We have everything right - both stencils and paint. And our hands are even. The only problem is that we have bad roads. On even ones, the stencil would fit better.
By the way, an equally important project has been implemented in Lithuania: we advise you to read about road signs on Lithuanian streets.

There are many ways to fight for peace - one of them was proposed back in the 19th century by the Belgians Paul Atlet and Henri Lafontaine. Information and its availability for everyone - that is what, in their opinion, should have led humanity away from military conflicts to the idea of unification for the sake of knowledge, for the sake of a common movement towards progress and enlightenment. Otlet and La Fontaine came up with an amazing project that really united many and many, but, alas, destroyed by the war
Natural phenomenon: Peach Lake asphalt in Trinidad
Lake Peach Lake, located in the southwest of Trinidad, is famous for being one of the natural "deposits" of asphalt. This is one of the largest bituminous pits in the world, with an area of about 40 hectares and a depth of about 80 m. A characteristic feature of Peach Lake is that objects that somehow fall on the surface of the lake gradually sink to the bottom, those that have lain for several centuries among the molten asphalt may float to the surface from time to time
