Video: Musical roads: forward and with a song

While the drivers of the states of the post-Soviet space dream of ordinary flat roads without pits and potholes, in other countries you will not surprise anyone with such a surface for driving. But I want to surprise! Therefore, we have to come up with more and more creative solutions, one of which was the emergence of musical roads.
The essence of the project lies in the fact that special depressions are applied to the road surface, which, when in contact with car tires, create certain sounds. For greater clarity, here you can draw an analogy with vinyl records, from which a turntable needle extracts music - the principle of operation is approximately the same. Depending on the distance between the hollows on the road, the pitch of sounds also changes: the closer the distance, the higher the pitch. The width between the grooves, as a rule, ranges from 6 to 12 cm.
The first musical road - Aspaltophone - appeared in 1995 in Denmark thanks to the efforts of designers Steen Krarup Jensen and Jakob Freud-Magnus. Now four states can boast of such unusual roads: Denmark, Japan, South Korea and the USA. By the way, there are three such roads in Japan!
For the best effect, road designers, as a rule, install special signs along the track indicating the recommended driving speed. Moreover, despite the small number of such roads in the world, they will satisfy the tastes of both fans of quiet driving and those who like to drive: the optimal speed ranges from 40 km / h on some roads to 100 km / h on others. But those who follow the recommendations will be rewarded with an unusual melody "played" by the car. By the way, the smoother the car rides (that is, at approximately the same speed), the more "correct" the music will be played. Of course, the quality of the melody cannot be compared with the usual audio system installed in your car, but the impressions from driving on such a road are much more than from listening to a song on the radio!
