Angel Boligan - talented Cuban cartoonist … His works leave an ambiguous impression: despite the seeming lightness and ease, they contain both light sadness and philosophical reflections on eternal themes.
It is no secret that humor can be a powerful weapon that enables an artist to expose certain contradictions in life, to point the viewer to the problems of modern society. Angel Boligan recently presented a series of cartoons at the exhibition "With Humor as Common Language" at the Cervantes Institute in Athens. Each work is the result of the author's reflections on the problems of love and family relationships. For example, the artist is worried that real life eludes modern kids: instead of playing football, the guys on the street play computer games.
Among the drawings, there are also those that are dedicated to the upcoming holiday - the New Year. There is a mischievous Santa Claus, arranging races for New Year's cars, and a dreary office worker, "printing" Christmas balls on a printer. Of course, the artist did not pass by the sore subject of cutting down Christmas trees.
The exhibition features works by Angel Boligan alongside paintings by the artist Mijalis Kuduris. These two cartoonists have gained worldwide fame in recent years due to the fact that their work is very talented. Angel Boligan has 137 international art awards and is President of the Latin American Cartoon Club.
