Why do we need paints, brushes and paper? Why draw with pencils when you can paint a picture with bright lights? Australian artist Laura Adel Johnson paints beautiful portraits using lights and garlands! Her artwork is currently on display at the Chalk Horse Gallery in Sydney. The light show will run until June 27th.
Laura Adel Johnson was inspired by festive Christmas illuminations to paint with decorative lights. The artist was first struck by the beauty of the massive use of illumination, lights and lanterns as she celebrated Christmas 2007 in Nebraska. They sparkled throughout the city, turning night into day, and creating a fairy tale for people. Then Laura Adele decided to start experimenting with this material in her work.
The hardest part was deciding what to portray. And the Australian woman stopped at portraits, realizing that the images of people painted with miniature sparkling lights are the most dramatic and exciting, even attractive. A particularly spectacular spectacle is created from tears-illuminations falling to the ground with a luminous stream. The crying light idea is amazing.

Starry sky instead of city illumination. Thierry Cohen's painting art project Darkened Cities
For us, residents of big cities, the starry sky has long seemed dark and dim. The illumination of the metropolis, hundreds of thousands of flashing headlights of cars, illuminated high-rise buildings and businesses, bright neon lights, street lamps and decorative garlands, deprives the townspeople of the pleasure of contemplating the twinkling of stars overhead, finding and viewing constellations, making wishes during a starfall.
