Traffic. Gravity Energy. Changing perspectives. "Fall" is a metaphor for youth in a state of precarious and precarious stability and balance. In a series of photographs titled La Chute, French artist Denis Darzacq has captured young dancers from the “hectic” districts of Paris, capturing their bodies floating in the air amid the gloomy cityscapes of their home quarters. Dani Darzak won the first World Press Photo Prize in the Arts and Entertainment category for the Fall.

The idea to create such a project came to the photographer in 2006. Darzak portrays an entire French generation in free fall, which is ignored by society, whose young, bubbling energy is not needed by anyone. The photographer felt that today's France is the place where someone can fall from heaven to earth and a passer-by who is on the street at that moment will not even blink an eye.

To implement his idea, photographer Dani Darzak needed models, young people who would effectively perform their roles, creating the illusion of fading in the air. Every hip-hopper, break dancer and capoeirista who took part in the shooting hovered in front of the camera for two hours until it turned out to achieve exactly the weightless state that the photographer was striving for. All models perfectly got used to the image, imbued with the idea of a society in which young people are forgotten and abandoned to their fate.
