Another work of Plensa appeared the other day in Rio de Janeiro as part of a large-scale project OIR (Other ideas for Rio, New ideas for Rio), in which, in addition to this author, other art authorities took part, such as Robert Morris, Brian Eno, Reji Ikeda, Enrique Oliveira and others.

The work of Awilda by Jaume Plensa is a twelve meter high sculpture made of resin and marble chips. It is installed on the surf line of Botafogo Beach in Rio de Janeiro, overhanging the rest of the people there.

This sculpture depicts a girl with her eyes closed. According to Jaume Plensa himself, this symbolizes human dreams - you just have to close your eyes to see their fulfillment. So the artist wants to stimulate people to dream through his creativity. After all, without this, internal progress and movement forward are impossible.

The goal of the OIR project is to transform Rio de Janeiro into a city-museum of modern art, where the works of the world's most famous authors could be found even in the most unusual and not intended places.
