Parks and gardens can be based on more than just trees. Let us recall at least the classic Japanese rock garden. But in the Yorkshire city of Wakefield there is a sculpture park, in which exhibitions of the largest contemporary sculptors are held every now and then. For example, now the works of the Catalan are exhibited there. Jaume Plensa.
I must say that the sculptor from Barcelona, Jaume Plensa, is already known to regular readers of our site thanks to his work with the name Nomade (Nomad), which is a figure of a man made of letters. It turns out that this is quite typical, as for the work of Plensa, sculpture.
Almost all the works of Jaime Plensa, presented at the exhibition in Yorkshire Sculpture Park, are also transparent human figures. True, they are not always made of letters (although there are also works from them, for example, "House of knowledge", that is, "House of Knowledge", or "Spiegal", "Mirror").
Plensa's sculptures, despite their common motives (lightness, transparency and even delicacy), have rather different textures. There are already mentioned letters, a uniform grid, geometric shapes, and just a set of random elements and shapes.
The main task that Jaime Plensa sets before himself at the beginning of work on each of his new sculptures, according to him, is to create a work that will ideally fit into absolutely any surrounding landscape, not spoil it, but, on the contrary, emphasize.
Plensa, again, in his own words, tries to use the tendencies inherent in architecture when creating sculptures: light, sound, games with space.

Wildlife in metal: park sculpture by Alexander Bezruchko

The magic of flowing water: dynamic park sculpture by Giles Reiner
Giles Reiner has specialized in a special park sculpture for over ten years - the water sculpture. The point is that water creates the illusion of movement of a static structure. This adds extra charm to the sculpture. The master's works look good even in the dark. Night illumination transforms metal structures on which water flows into magic trees or magic spheres
