Technology today is developing by leaps and bounds, manufacturers strive to do everything to make it easy to use, and also does not take up too much space. Although on this score, real geniuses have a special point of view. Renowned American photographer Dennis Manarchy has spent over ten years developing a unique camera. The master managed to create a classic film camera of a giant size - it is 35 feet long (almost 11 meters), 8 feet wide and 12 feet high.
The camera needs huge negatives of 6 by 4.5 feet. In fact, to view them, you need to use lighting devices the size of a large window. It will be technically impossible to process such images, but the photographer will be able to achieve amazing image clarity anyway. In portraits created with the miracle camera, you can see fine wrinkles and pores on the body of people. The preparation for the photograph is very meticulous, as due to technical difficulties the photographer has only one attempt to photograph a person.
The camera is designed in such a way that Manarki can work even inside it, adjusting focus, scale and light. A large plasma screen is installed on the back, allowing people to watch it in action. Dennis is constantly improving his brainchild, which has already received the name "The Eye of America" (The Eye of Amerika). He created a camera to capture extraordinary images of American everyday life.
The photographer intends to travel 20,000 miles across the country using a trailer with a camera mounted on it. He plans to visit 50 US states as part of the Endangered Culture: A Portrait of America project to photograph Eskimos, Indians, cowboys, Apaches, and World War II participants. Giant photographs, two stories in size, will immortalize history. If, nevertheless, the maximalism of Denis Manarka does not arouse sympathy, it is quite possible to pay attention to Keel Johnson's cardboard cameras. Made in full size, they are one-to-one similar to working originals and will definitely not leave you indifferent!
