There are not so many people in the world who are engaged in egg shell carving - the fragile material seems completely unsuitable for carving art. But in the hands of the Altai craftswoman Maria Minsitova, the egg turns into an openwork weaving of amazing complexity. Here, as in sculpture: you just need to remove the unnecessary.

Maria Minsitova has been fond of Slavic Easter eggs for many years. This is an ancient, extant painting on a live, unpublished egg using paints and beeswax. But having got acquainted with the technique of carving, Maria discovered a new, surprisingly delicate art.

An example for the first trials in egg shell carving was the lace work of Gehry LeMaster, a famous foreign artist working in this genre. But now Maria's works are in no way inferior to the works of foreign masters in technique, and the original author's style is saturated with peculiar ethnic motives. The craftswoman is passionate about folk culture, which is clearly reflected in her work.

The revival of ancient traditions, and perhaps the belief in something magical, is part of the artist's personal worldview. Maria Minsitova works with different materials (there is a gallery of works on her page). Many works are made of ostrich eggs - the large size allows you to create complex compositions, and chicken and quail eggs are used for the most delicate work.
