The artist Gel Jamlang creates surreal illustrations in the best traditions of the aesthetics of the direction. Paintings, made with watercolors and acrylics, depict an amazingly picturesque chaos of intertwined bodies, floral ornaments, endless layers and reflections.
Human bodies, animals, flower painting - everything is intricately intertwined on Gel Jamlang's canvases. The picture looks very dynamic - fictional characters are interspersed with realistic elements, which creates an interesting visual effect.
Jamlang began her journey into art with interior design - her main job was making large-scale murals. The Jamlang designer succeeded in painting various color panels before finally realizing that her true vocation was watercolor painting. “Watercolors often behave in a completely unpredictable manner,” explains the artist, “And it's incredibly fun to play around. The transparency of the texture and the brightness of the iridescent shades - it all looks just amazing. And if acrylic paints are used simultaneously with watercolors, then you can play on the contrast of densities. The result will be quite impressive."
Gel Jamlang is a Filipino artist and illustrator based in Baltimore. From 1996 to 2000, she studied at the Philippine College of Fine Arts. For twelve years, Jamlang has worked in the interior design industry, doing some creative work from time to time. Shortly after several successful New York exhibitions, the artist moved to Baltimore to finally devote her time to her career as an artist.
American artist Adam Caldwell is also a lover of complex images and ambiguous interpretations. His surreal collages force viewers to stare at the whimsical canvas of the image for a long time before they finally realize that they like what they see.
