Young artist from Los Angeles Konrad Ruiz (Conrad ruiz) paints almost exclusively in watercolors on paper, but his dazzling work can easily be mistaken for full-fledged oil paintings. Ruiz combines artistic taste with a genuine interest in pop culture and paints not only complex abstractions, but also scenes from the lives of Hulk Hogan and Barack Obama.
Konrad Ruiz received his Art College Graduate Diploma in California in 2009. Since then, his work has been repeatedly exhibited in prestigious galleries in different states. The first exhibition in which the young talent took part was "Night of a Thousand Drawings" in New York Artists Space in 2008. A few years later, Ruiz is already in full swing solo, showing connoisseurs of art the most successful cycles of his work, including "Domination" (Domination) and "Juice" (Juice).
In a cycle of watercolors Domination Ruiz develops militaristic and aggressive images. Soldiers and martial artists in the American's paintings merge into a single giant color spot, becoming indistinguishable from each other. The same goes for more abstract images that also come across in Domination: geometric shapes and color fragments referring to the shape of the national flag.
In a cycle of works Juice Ruiz fulfills his ambitions as an abstract artist; these works are also mostly painted with watercolors, but sometimes with small splashes of oil. The most lightweight cycle of Ruiz's works should be recognized Climax: It is in these watercolors that the artist most often refers to pop-cultural images. So, for example, a wrestler's painful injury becomes a pretext for an almost caricature work called "Worst Birthday Ever" (Worst Birthday Ever).
Many well-known representatives of contemporary art, like Konrad Ruiz, live and work in Los Angeles - suffice it to name a photographer Matt Loge and a prominent representative of street art Eduardo Cobra … Ruiz does not shy away from his colleagues, but, on the contrary, takes part in the "unification movement" in the Los Angeles art community: he recently joined an art group "The Boys of Summer" ("Summer Boys" - the name, apparently, is borrowed from the popular hit of the 1980s), detailed information about which has not yet been published on the Web.
