December 2011 in the Austrian resort Tyrol does not start in the best way: there is no snow. Do the best skis in Germany and Austria have to gather dust without work, and athletes, instead of conquering new tracks, will have to sullenly drink schnapps? There would be a will for sports, and there you can do without snow: the mountains have remained in place.
As a result, 45 kilometers from Innsbruck, in the village of Haiming, athletes began to practice a new sport: skiing downhill on stones. Rotating pebbles and dust particles allow you to quite dynamically descend from the mountains, and even perform some tricks on a snowboard.
Of course, a huge disadvantage of the new sport is the terrible wear and tear of the equipment. Nevertheless, skiers have been skiing without snow for several days. Perhaps. next year they will have to take a special cast-iron skis with them - after all, global warming is coming, and next winter may turn out to be even more snowless! But then a new kind of sport - skiing downhill on stones - will have to be included in the Olympic program.
