An old, shabby book sits on a dusty shelf. She has long lost the interest of readers, and no one will open more than her pages, will not creep with a glance, will not be interested, greedily swallowing words and sentences in order to quickly unravel the secret contained in it. None other than the English artist Su Blackwell, who breathes new life into books, forcing them to tell their stories.

Sue Blackwell graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2003. She creates intricate works of art from books, transforming them into fantastic three-dimensional worlds. Using a surgical instrument, a scalpel, the talented Englishwoman cuts and glues pages to create miniature charts, illuminated by light, which are placed in wooden boxes or glass cases, reminiscent of Victorian relics on display in a museum.

The artist finds books, in secondhand, on book layouts, she can never walk past a store where used books are sold, and always looks in, even for a minute, to buy something for herself. There are many old books in Sue Blackwell's workshop, some of which she uses as material, and some of them just draws inspiration, especially from the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen.

Sue always reads books first, and this inspires her to create a certain image or painting. The books themselves, their stories, stories are also of interest to the author. They cherish on their pages records of past events, amazing, scary, funny and gloomy. Their damage - scuffs and stains, all this is part of a large story, lived by the book itself.
