However, now, like many other organizations with a large number of visitors, it is closed due to the coronavirus epidemic. However, its corridors were by no means empty. Now the inhabitants of the sea depths through the glass are watched not by people, but by completely different guests - kittens and puppies.
Holding more than 10 million gallons of water in total, this huge aquarium is located in the capital of Georgia, Atlanta. Its staff conducts training programs and organizes excursions for locals and tourists. As a leader in aquatic research and exceptional animal care, this aquarium has always been ready to educate as many people as possible about the diversity of the ocean and its inhabitants.
However, everything changed this spring. Having carefully studied the situation with COVID-19, the management of the institution made the difficult decision to close the aquarium to visitors, as stated in the corresponding announcement on its website.
Along with this decision, another thing arose - to invite new guests here. And these guests are cats and rescue puppies. The adorable pets were brought here from the Atlanta Humane Society, and now furry visitors run along the glass "showcases", exploring the sea world up close.
This brood of tabby kittens has suitable names associated with the underwater world - Nemo, Dory, Guppy, Bubbles and Marlin. Curious kids saw for the first time (and probably will hardly see anywhere else) such huge fish and marine animals.
Incidentally, this is not the first collaboration between the Georgia Aquarium and the Atlanta City Humane Society. These kittens appeared here two weeks after two puppies - brother and sister named Carmel and Odie.
But why were such unusual visitors launched into the aquarium? It's simple. Rescuers in this difficult period are in a difficult situation - like many other non-profit public organizations, the Humane Society was forced to stop its services and can only carry out a limited number of "adoptions" of animals. Employees are unable to care for all pets.
Now, Nemo, Dory, Guppy, Bubbles and Marlene are in the loving foster family of the aquarium employees - until the animal welfare services are fully operational.
In general, the kittens in the aquarium are such a harmless publicity stunt that will certainly help remind the townspeople of cute rescued animals and at the same time awe-inspiring aquatic life, which, by the way, will bring PR to the aquarium.
By the way, videos published on the Internet with kittens and puppies in the giant Georgia aquarium have gained several hundred thousand views. After all, people love to look at cats! So, apparently, the idea turned out to be successful.
