Many girls want to grow long hair, considering it a symbol of beauty and health, but hardly anyone else can boast of such a "head of hair" that an 81-year-old grandmother from Vietnam possesses. However, the three-meter hair of this lady does not look at all like that of the fabulous Rapunzel.
When people see unusually long hair Trin Ti Nghien (Trinh Thi Nghien), they rarely express their admiration - rather, surprise. The fact is that the woman's three-meter hair is tangled in a thick plait that looks like a huge snake.
The story of Trin Thi Nghien became known to the world after local Vietnamese newspapers wrote about it. Journalists asked the woman why she was growing her hair to such an extreme length, but Trine invariably answered all questions that she did not do it on purpose.
Trin Thi Nghien claims to have started growing her hair 22 years ago. Until 1995, she had completely normal hair, when suddenly one day she noticed a tuft of matted hair on the top of her head. She tried to comb this clump, but all efforts were in vain. Then she simply cut off this clump with scissors. However, a little later, the hair, which had grown back instead of cut, got tangled again, but at the same time it became even thicker and it was even more difficult to cut it off. After several attempts to trim the matted tufts, Trine gave up and let the hair grow as she liked.
Today, 22 years later, matted hair has become a three-meter tourniquet. And living with such "wealth" on your head is certainly not easy. Firstly, this hairstyle attracts attention. Trine has to roll her hair into a huge head and cover her head, otherwise children begin to pester her, asking and trying to touch her hair, and adults often stop Trine with questions.
Secondly, washing such hair is also not easy. Each time it takes a lot of shampoo, and the process itself takes at least an hour, while in order to completely dry the hair, sometimes it takes a whole day.
In addition to the fact that this part of Trin's hair grows tangled, it also differs in color from the rest of the hair: most of Trin's hair is black with graying, and the hair, tangled in a plait, is brown without a single gray hair.
Despite the many inconveniences Trine has with her "rapunzel" hair, she has grown accustomed to it and has decided to treat it as a "gift from heaven." The Russian Rapunzel - Daria Gubanova - has been growing its hair for 14 years now and its strands are about 160 centimeters long.
