Elena Drapeko, Deputy Head of the State Duma Committee on Culture, opposed Olga Buzova's performance of the Russian anthem at the Victory Parade. She shared her opinion about the singer in an interview with a reporter.
"Like, probably, any normal person, I think that Olga Buzova is simply unworthy to sing the Russian anthem at state events!" - said Drapeko.
The parliamentarian noted that many talented artists are capable of performing the Russian anthem. “We have enough wonderful singers both on the stage and opera singers who are quite capable of doing this [to perform the national anthem] with dignity,” Drapeko said. She stressed that Buzova is not on this list. Also, according to her, the pop star is simply engaged in self-promotion, making such statements.
