Following the official ban of the French government from using skinny models on the runway, the world of lingerie advertising has also undergone a change. Lingerie company Lane bryantspecializing in plus sizes, flashed on the pages of fashion publications and loudly announced her views on real female beauty.
The story began last year with a high-profile ad campaign scandal. Victoria's Secret, who put their new slogan ("Ideal body) along with a photo of ten equally tall and thin models. Trying to hush up the case, they changed the slogan to (" Body for everyone "), but this did not change much: even though the models were not positioned as ideal, but their identical thin bodies still spoke for themselves.
As a response from all women who, apparently, do not fit into the concept of "perfect body", Lane Bryant company presented its vision of female beauty. Their project was named #ImNoAngel. "" - is on the Lane Bryant website. The company made its main advertising photo deliberately similar to last year's advertising from Victoria's Secret, however, the picture does not show the same figures, but a variety of "normal and ordinary female bodies."
The goal of the #ImNoAngel campaign is, of course, not to promote the ban on thin bodies, but to draw attention to the fact that there are huge gaps in the fashion world in terms of the representation of different female figures. Plus-size women know firsthand how difficult it is to find suitable clothes for themselves in fashion boutiques, and that the chances of seeing an ad for themselves in a fashion magazine are almost zero.
And this is a short video for the #ImNoAngel campaign:
Similar campaigns like #ImNoAngel or Swimsuits for all raise a long-overdue discussion of the topic of "conformity to fashionable standards," suggesting to love your body, whatever it may be, to learn to feel confident and not depend on the opinions of others.
