This is the most famous pharaoh who ruled in Ancient Egypt, whose tomb is located near the city of Luxor. For the first time, this sarcophagus of the pharaoh, made of wood, was discovered in 1922 and since then has never been restored. When specifying this information, the television channel referred to receiving it from Mustafa Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Antiquities of Egypt.
She also told that from the moment of burial this sarcophagus did not leave its place. And so it was decided to carry out its restoration. The course of work, in which the best masters will take part, was decided to be held in a specialized laboratory, which is part of the Great Egyptian Museum. This museum is located in the suburbs of Cairo near the famous pyramids of Giza. The decision on the need to transport the wooden sarcophagus of Tutankhamun to the museum was made by a special commission, which is responsible for the ancient Egyptian monuments.
Presumably, the restoration work of the sarcophagus will take the craftsmen about 8 months, as Isa Zeidan, who holds the position of director for restoration in the Great Egyptian Museum, told about this. She drew attention to the fact that the valuable artifact was examined in Cairo and found very severe damage. Especially a lot of damage was found by the master in the gilded layer of the sarcophagus. At the moment, the sarcophagus is unstable, very shaky, and therefore, during the restoration, it is planned to strengthen the wooden structure.
During the transportation of valuable cargo, heightened security measures were adhered to. Professional restorers were involved in this process. Also, several squads of the tourist police took part in this process at the same time. After restoration work, the sarcophagus of Tutankhamun, discovered in Luxor, will become part of the museum's exposition, and will be exhibited with more famous artifacts that are part of the collection of Tutankhamun, kept in the National Egyptian Museum.
