People with an original sense of humor and unusual passions live in the Polish city of Krakow. For some reason, among the diverse and numerous breeds of dogs, they distinguish exactly the dachshund, lovingly calling them "sausage dogs", and every year they arrange for them a colorful performance in the form of a solemn procession along the main street of the city. The performance is called so - Dachshund parade, and this year Krakow celebrated the 18th anniversary of a fun and curious event. It is simply impossible not to fall under the charm of these sweet "sausages" on short legs. Probably, this explains the desire of dog breeders to arrange a chic holiday for their pets, which the whole country would talk about. And for the holiday, each pet receives from the owner an elegant costume, because they go to the parade not only to see others, but also to show themselves.
Similar parades are organized by lovers of "sausage dogs" from other cities. So, no less colorful and large-scale Dachshund Parades are arranged by taxi owners in the UK and the USA. But there these parades from time to time turn into masquerades, where dogs of other breeds also take part as guests. Then small "sausages", dressed up in bright cheerful costumes, mince on their short legs next to large Dobermans, terriers, shepherds, collies, Giant Schnauzers, and all this motley and colorful crowd looks very picturesque and sounds in different voices.
The final chord of the Dachshund Parad is usually an event where the winner of the costume contest, which is an integral part of the annual Dachshund Parade, is chosen. This year the best dog was a dachshund, dressed in a sombrero and a poncho, and a small guitar attached to the cape completed the image of the Mexican minstrel.
