Bloemencorso is the largest flower parade on the planet, which takes place annually in the small Dutch town of Zundert. It takes local residents about two weeks to prepare for the festival: during this time, special platforms are being prepared for the demonstration of flower sculptures. For their works, the Dutch use exclusively dahlias, each one requires thousands of buds. The older generation is usually engaged in flower cultivation, while the younger generation is usually involved in the construction of sculptures. How the florists surprised the public this year, see our collection of photographs.
From time to time on the site Kulturologiya. Ru we publish flower festivals digestsbecause there are a lot of them in the world. Bloemencorso recognized as the largest, and we have already told our readers about it. Recall that the festival takes place on the first Sunday of September; during the parade, twelve sculptures are traditionally displayed according to the number of districts in the host city. They approach the creation of sculptures in a creative way: they are usually mechanical, which surprises the audience a lot.
Within the framework of the parade, a competition for the best sculpture is held, this year the highest award was given to the composition "Gekkengoud", its authors Steven Van Erk and Stefan Van Steen. The sculpture depicts the leader of the Aztecs, who turned himself into a golden statue. The Spaniards believed that everyone who looked at him slowly went crazy, they even called him "maddening gold."
In general, Bloemencorso 2013 was a success, gathering many guests. This vibrant festival is a real farewell gift of the summer before the coming autumn. We hope that the wonderful photos taken by Niels Braspenning and Malou Evers will give you the opportunity to plunge into this magical atmosphere!
