The homeland of dahlias is distant Mexico, but despite this, they are very fond of Europeans. It is known that in the garden of Josephine, Napoleon's wife, there was a large collection of these double flowers. Today, a small town can be called a real "dahlia paradise" Zundert in the Netherlands. A huge number of these flowers are grown here and they arrange the world's largest parade of flower sculptures - Bloemencorso.
About the flower parade Bloemencorso we annually tell the readers of the site Kulturologiya. RF, since it is simply impossible to ignore this grandiose event. Time and again, the organizers manage to surprise the townspeople and numerous tourists who come to see the breathtaking sculptures. By the way, the Netherlands can rightfully be called the record holder for the number of such events - about 25 flower festivals are held in this country!
However, the action in Zundert differs from all the others in that among the local residents almost no one is left out of the preparation for the festival. Both old and young take an active part in the cultivation of flowers, and in the construction of platforms, and in the creation of flower arrangements.
The platforms are striking in size - about 20 m in length and 10 m in height. The frame for the sculptures is made of wire, cardboard and papier-mâché, and then completely covered with buds. The flowers are grown specifically for the parade; each sculpture requires thousands of them. This year Bloemencorso took place 20 times, so the Dutch did their best and really managed to surprise!
