How many of us from time to time do not have an insistent desire to look at the world from a bird's eye view? And here is the Amsterdam artist Katrin Korfmann does it regularly! Moreover, she records her observations on a camera and shares the resulting images with the audience.
Many artists and photographers are engaged in capturing the world from a bird's eye view. Let us recall, for example, the works of Klaus Leidorff, Navid Barati or Stefan Zirves. An Amsterdam artist of German origin named Katherine Korfman is also doing the same. But she only photographs people.
People often want to look at themselves from the outside. And Katherine Korfman suggests looking from above. After all, from this point it is very interesting to observe the behavior of large masses of people! What, in fact, Catherine does.
Katherine Korfman photographs people during mass events - civil and religious holidays, festivals, concerts, or simply in places of large concentration. She also takes staged photographs, when personalities are lined up on them in a certain sequence.
However, the photographer believes that any gathering of people is not an accident, but a pattern. Katherine Korfman studies the causes and consequences of this in her work.
An exhibition of Katherine Korfman's work, captured with a camera from a bird's eye view, is now on display in one of the halls of Galleri Andersson / Sandström in Stockholm. It will last until May 25 this year.
