Good manners forbid showing the middle finger, considering it an extremely indecent gesture. Perhaps, only Bavarians, who invented a unique sport, can freely demonstrate it in public places - finger wrestling(“Fingerhakeln”)! Hundreds of strong-built men come to Olstadt every year to measure the strength of … a finger!
This year, "finger wrestling" was held for the thirty-fifth time. The competition did not arise at all by chance - even in the 17th century in Bavaria there was a custom, according to which in any dispute the one with the stronger finger was right. Needless to say, such disputes often flared up in pubs. Two reckless drivers sat opposite each other at the table, tied their fingers with leather twine, the task was quite simple - to pull the enemy! The "dispute" was watched by two impromptu "referees" who made sure that the participants did not break each other's bones. However, “professional” injuries (dislocation of a joint or torn ligaments) are a matter of everyday life for wrestlers!
According to the rules of the duel, participants can use only one finger, often it is the middle finger, less often the little finger! "Entering the ring" is preceded by painstaking workouts: from the banal squeezing of tennis balls with one finger, to push-ups on it and even lifting weights weighing up to 50 kg!
This year's championship turned out to be quite large-scale - it was attended by participants from nine weight categories, all of them were dressed in Leiderhosen, national German outfits. More than 400 spectators gathered to watch the action! Perhaps, only wedding wrestlers who arrange fights right at the wedding can compare in originality with the "finger" ones!

Exotic motifs, a table in the hatch and other oddities of the castle of the Bavarian king Ludwig
The Bavarian king Ludwig is famous for fairytale castles, which he built for the love of art. However, only Linderhof he saw complete. There, the dreamy monarch gave lavish dinners … for the kings of the past, dined with Marie Antoinette, whom he missed for centuries, and imagined himself either an inhabitant of Versailles of the Bourbon era, or a minstrel Tannhäuser, fascinated by Venus
Japanese stick wrestling: the original sport of botaoshi
Japanese wrestling is not necessarily a confrontation between two fat strong men who, puffing, push each other over the tatami. It can be massive! But in order for the Japanese to muster up the sporting spirit and courage for such a thing, they need a really serious reason to fight. For example, such as a wonderful long wooden stick stuck vertically into the ground
Octopus wrestling: a brutal sport that was at its peak 50 years ago
It's amazing how much fun has been invented by man throughout history to distract himself from boredom. These are duels, hunting for wild animals, and even drugs. One of the most absurd activities was fighting the octopus, popular in the United States in the middle of the last century. A dangerous, strange, and absolutely inhumane game that simply cannot be imagined in the context of today, then wrestling with an octopus was considered a sign of courage and dexterity, not available to everyone
