Japan in the past few years has experienced many disasters - natural, economic, environmental. This is how the Japanese feel about all this, and the artist decided to show Masakatsu Iwamoto within his personal exhibitions Metamorphosis: give me your wingstaking place these days in New York.
Japan is still unable to recover from the earthquake and tsunami in the spring of 2011. And, if this country was able to quickly restore the infrastructure, the above-mentioned catastrophe changed the public consciousness dramatically.
These changes are reflected, including in contemporary art. Let us recall at least the Soup series of collages dedicated to the garbage in the ocean, or the installation from the garbage Under the Water.
Some of the works at the Metamorphosis: give me your wings exhibition by Japanese artist Masakatsu Iwamoto are also dedicated to the crash.
As part of this exhibition, Masakatsu Iwamoto tried to explore how the economic and natural disasters of recent years have affected the lives of the Japanese.
This exhibition consists of installations and paintings. For example, one of the works is a pile of rags and other garbage, symbolizing the life of a person left without a roof over his head due to fluctuations in the economy. Moreover, Masakatsu Iwamoto himself sits at this place for several hours a day.
In his graphic works, Masakatsu Iwamoto tries to show how all these cataclysms influenced the psychology of people, first of all, the psychology of young people. Due to the disasters that have befallen Japan in recent years, the inhabitants of this country have become more aggressive, less confident in themselves and in the future, they have a fear of change.

Many call these women lucky, because they were one step away from death, but fate gave them another chance. The heroines themselves, who are in trouble, do not think so. “It is better to live a boring life, a measured life, than to experience such“happiness”on yourself,” they think.
