Andreas Franke is an Austrian photographer and diving enthusiast. Andreas prefers to combine these two seemingly dissimilar activities - he often shoots underwater. One of the latest series of his photographs is called The Life Above Refined Below (which can be roughly translated as "Luxurious life at the bottom"). The filming location was the Caribbean Sea, not far from the island of Barbados.

Culturology. Ru has already written about this photographer, and then his project was also associated with the underwater world: Andreas used the sunken Vandenberg ship as an exhibition platform for his photographs.

This time, Francke decided to explore the decadent customs of the rich during the glorious Rococo era. The freighter Stavronikita, which sank in 1976, became a platform for photo action. Interestingly, the ship became not only a shooting location, but also a place for the subsequent exhibition of the author's works. The ship is located at a depth of 37 meters, and the guidebook says that only experienced divers are allowed to descend to such a depth, but during the exhibition, scuba gear was issued to everyone.

The Viennese photo artist clearly plays in contrast: vivid images of models, repeating in every detail the luxurious outfits of the Rococo era, and an old dilapidated ship that serves as a backdrop for this largely artificial life. While high society is given joy at feasts and is engaged in narcissism, the life of marine life is boiling around, as if they do not notice the invasion of their world by the characters of a bygone era.
