Canadian Calvin Nicholls has been creating paper animals for nearly a quarter of a century. His craft happily combined the master's love for wildlife and art. Since then, the paper sculptor has managed to make a whole menagerie. Bears and wolves, lynxes and zebras, hedgehogs and owls - whoever is not here!
"Culturology" has written about images of animals made of paper more than once. These are pets from old magazines and newspapers by Samuel Price, and Eiji Watanabe's winged installation dedicated to butterflies, and Helen Musselwaite's paper applique paintings. The series is continued by Canadian craftsman Calvin Nicholls.
While working on paper animals, Calvin Nicholls uses wood and metal tools. He neatly cuts out the details and gives them the required volume and shape.
In the process of creating sculptures, the master monitors how light and shadows play on the fur of paper animals. The case is crowned with a photograph of a new inhabitant of the menagerie in a "cage" -frame.
