Concentration in people it is most fully manifested in two life situations - when they snap seeds, or when they pick up something in mobile phone … An open mouth, an empty gaze - you can immediately see that a person is in some other space. The famous photographer Joe Holmes became very interested in this phenomenon. "Texters" created a whole gallery of various characters. Only one thing unites them - concentration.
American photographer Joseph Holmes - a recognized master with vast experience: for 38 years he has been going through life with a camera. In his youth, this was facilitated by his extreme hobbies: in the 1970s, he traveled through the Yosemite Reserve for four years, rafted and canoeing on mountain rivers, traveled 50 of 52 states of America … And all this time he had a 15-kilogram box with camera and tripod.
However, Joe Holmes did not stop at landscape photography. He studied photography and printing further, and by the end of the 80s he gained fame, began to publish in magazines, publish his photographs and participate in exhibitions. At the same time, several of his books on landscape photography were published: "Natural Light", "Colorado Canyons" and others. Now Joseph Holmes is one of the true luminaries of American photography. It would be worth talking about his landscapes separately; however, in recent years, the artist is more attracted to portraits.
Portrait photo project " Texters"(" typing ") is one of the attempts to see the spirit and face of a person in unusual circumstances. The concentration of a modern city dweller, bending over a small keyboard, makes him an“island among people.”Even before Joe Holmes, there were attempts to trace how a mobile phone transforms a person - in particular, the project "Mobile Mania" by street photographer Danny Santos. Holmes' series of portraits is distinguished by a greater variety of "models" and skill. Concentrated people on his photo - this is a provocation of thinking: to whom are they writing? What? And what do we ourselves look like at such moments?
