Art or uniform disgusting? Such a question can be asked (and perhaps many are already asking them) when it comes to the incredible "Chinese farm", which is kept in distant Belgium by a large original, an artist named Wim Delvoye. He not only raises pigs there - he decorates them in the spirit of modern fashion, tattooing the pig's body.
The artist's "repertoire" includes thousands of various patterns, from cartoon characters to traditional ornaments of certain countries, from portraits of celebrities to logos of companies and concerns. Or maybe you need an exclusive, author's drawing? So, Wim Delvoy and his team first paint on the pig's back, then they feed it properly, and when the time comes, the pig goes to the forefathers, and its skin is removed, pulled onto a canvas, and framed like a painting.
Do pigs like it? And no one asked them … But Wim Delvoy believes that he is doing the pigs a favor by buying them from butchers and turning them into a work of art, and not soullessly sending them to the slaughterhouse for a piece of ham or a bundle of sausage.
Wim Delvoy's art farm will soon be 5 years old. During this time, unusual tattooed paintings on pork skins have become very popular with connoisseurs of unusual art. So, at auctions, such a work can cost from 150 thousand dollars.
