He started his career as a military photojournalist, covering events in "hot spots" in Kosovo. Having moved to live and work in the UK, and having tasted a calm, peaceful life, the photographer changed his career guidance somewhat. He was engaged in commercial photography, both product and fashion photography, and food photography, simultaneously mastering the profession of a food stylist. This is where the passion for edible carving began.
Ilian Iliev tries to move away from the standard techniques of carving for vegetables and fruits. Instead of traditional subjects like a flower bed or a bouquet of buds, he prefers to give the crop a more stylish, modern look. The style of this master's work is easily recognizable, even though only the lazy has not tried to use such carved fruits in photography.
