How many hills have you seen throughout your life? Probably thousands - and yet it hardly occurred to you that at the same time each of the hills was looking at you. Photo project by American photographer Paul Octavius - an attempt see the world through the eyes of a hill, past which throughout the year such short-lived people run by with their momentary joys: we are with you.

Black photographer Paul Octavius (1984) lives and works in Chicago. In a light and nostalgic book by science fiction writer Ray Bradbury, the past is kept in dandelion wine; and Paul Octavius preserves the memory in photographs of a single green hillock in a Chicago park. Nobody can tell about the photo project "Same Hill, Different Day" better than the author himself:

“At first, when I started photographing this hill, I didn’t even think about photographing it for so long. It's just that my daily walks constantly brought me to it. There was something intriguing about the way people were constantly in contact with this hill. And one day I realized that this hill is a stage, and the people on it are actors, participants in an eternal performance; then I fell in love with it."

On the hillside one after another, the acts of human and natural life take place; Octavius filmed several dozen of them. The grass grows, turns green, turns yellow and falls asleep under the snow; people fly kites and fireworks, look at night meteors and have fun at rock concerts … And so the years roll, since 2007, and Paul Octavius continues to follow the people on the hillside and shoot them on camera.

And Octavius occasionally records small films of stunning quality - all about the same hill. Here is one of them:
