These old faded photographs of tens of thousands of people have come down to us since the First World War. Two enthusiastic photographers, Arthur S. Mole and John D. Thomas, armed with ancient 11 x 14-inch cameras, traveled the United States from one military unit to another to raise the morale of American warriors, as well as for their own creative experiment.
And the experiment consisted in the following: photographers built living pictures of soldiers, "painting" patriotic symbols with bodies, and then photographing them from a 24-meter tower.
First, the contours of the future picture were outlined on the ground, the first line of soldiers was lined up along the contour, and then they filled in the middle, strictly "sorting" people by color of clothing, height and even hair color. Thus, the images of President Woodrow Wilson, the Statue of Liberty, the national flag, the eagle and many others were obtained.
Curiously, the soldiers considered it an honor to participate in this experiment. They were happy to become a part of something big and important, not to mention the fact that Americans literally suck patriotism with their mother's milk. It's a pity that quite a few amazing pictures-photographs have survived to our time. All of them are in the collection of the American Museum of Modern Art.

Child soldiers in an adult war. Made in China portrait of toy soldiers
Children need a happy and carefree childhood, in which, if there is a place for war and machine guns, then toys, plastic, fake ones. Children should not see the war, and even more so should not take a direct part in it. If this happens, it is a tragedy. The Japanese-Chinese War of 1937-1945 became such a tragedy, and the Made in China art project, a large-scale installation by Joe Black, is dedicated to just this topic
People, people and again people. Drawings by John Beinart
If you only have a couple of moments to get to know Jon Beinart, then, glancing over his paintings, you will see black and white portraits or several human figures. But the drawings of this author are nevertheless recommended to be considered more thoughtfully and more carefully: and then you will see that in each image there are tens and hundreds of people, who can be peered at for hours

Thirty different versions of the same sculpture, collected in one exhibition hall - an entertaining and amazing sight
