Tourists and New Yorkers alike clearly did not expect life to stop at the city's central rail station. More than two hundred people simultaneously froze on it, imitating waiting for a train. The flash mob was organized by the Improv Everywhere organization, whose actions became famous all over the world.
207 volunteers mingled with the crowd at a major New York railway station and froze at some point. Witnesses of what is happening almost themselves were numb from what they saw. Some of them even touched the participants of the flash mob, trying to understand what was the matter.
A few minutes later, the participants of the flash mob "Freeze at the Station", as if nothing had happened, went about their business. The astonished audience applauded the protesters and laughed at themselves. Many eyewitnesses reacted quite amusingly.
The action was organized by Improv Everywhere, founded in 2001. It was her activists who conducted a flash mob "A ride in meters without pants" several years ago, when about three thousand people, including girls, without pants, were quietly driving to work in the New York subway.
