Andrew Myers from Southern California - one of the brightest artists of our time, who loves daring experiments. Several years ago on the site Kulturologiya. Ru we wrote about his "screw painting", and now we will tell you about bronze sculpturescreated by the wizard. Each has its own story, which the author is ready to tell the viewer.
Communication with people is the main source of inspiration for Andrew Myers. Stories from the life of bosom friends or casual acquaintances often serve as a "script" for the dramatic collision that is embodied in a sculptural composition. Each work of the artist can be pondered for hours, unraveling the allegories hidden in it.
One of the most striking works in this series is the sculpture "In an Emergency". Once on the train, Andrew's attention was drawn to the usual inscription on the glass: "In case of an accident, smash with a hammer." It suddenly became obvious that the human heart is a kind of analogue of the "fire extinguisher" that we use to "extinguish" emotional fires. A hammer in hand is a hint that at the right time it is worth breaking the glass, freeing the heart from the vice.
The reason for the creation of the sculpture "Processing of Tears" was the story of one of Andrew's friends. He survived a divorce from his wife, and, it would seem, already said to himself: "Stop crying." However, it took a long time before he finally soothed his mental pain. Thus, the author showed that emotional pain again and again disarms a person even when everything is over.
“Life is full of unexpected moments” is a self-portrait sculpture. With this composition, the author tried to illustrate his own philosophy of life: there is no stability in the world, every moment can be decisive for a person, because no one knows when the scissors will cut the thin thread of life.
Leap of Faith is a visual aid on how to get rid of the "garbage" in your head: collect everything in a suitcase and throw it away. The series of sculptures is “crowned” by the life-affirming composition “I have tried everything”. We see a man ready to give up and dragging behind him the burden of past years. However, as soon as he just go ahead, without stopping, and he will surely find the golden key to success.
